|Proposed Start Date||August 2017|
|Assignment Location||Apia, Samoa|
Want to be part of Samoa’s disaster risk reduction? Here is your opportunity! The Samoa Fire and Emergency Services (SFESA) contributes to the country’s disaster risk reduction at the national level by ensuring an effective response in Fire and Ambulance services.
The authority has diversified its focus from a solely firefighting operation to an all emergencies type response agency. Monitoring and ensuring sustainability of an effective medical response for all fire related disasters brings numerous technical obstacles to the HO.
Your role will focus on helping the staff to identify and address issues that hinder medical responses in SFESA particularly in training and reporting. Major tasks will include assisting staff to identify medical response flaws and finding solutions, working with staff to develop a manual for Emergency Medical Response (EMR), recruiting and conducting refresher training to all counterparts. It will also include developing a reporting system on each disaster as well as setting up a database for this reporting that is relevant to SFESA needs. Other tasks will include compiling training manuals for ongoing internal staff capacity building.
Your role will help the community have access to timely and competent Emergency Medical Response services and improve community knowledge in fire prevention resulting in fewer accidental fires.
