Assignment Summary
Do you have a passion for supporting people to realise their potential? The Vanuatu Society for People with Disability (VSPD) needs you to help build the capacity of its Community Based Rehabilitation fieldworkers!

VSPD is the leading organisation providing essential services to people with disabilities in Vanuatu, they began 31 years ago as part of Vanuatu Red Cross. VSPD’s principal programs focus on Early Intervention, helping families to support their child’s developmental skills, and Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR) services to support improvements in people with disabilities’ independence and wellbeing, including through mobility aid provision. More recently, VSPD has commenced work to establish and support community based disability associations in peri-urban communities in Efate.

As a Community Based Rehabilitation Program Officer you will support VSPD’s CBR team to enhance the quality and effectiveness of its services to people with disabilities in Port Vila, and links with partners and services across Vanuatu. This will include strengthening administrative processes, building fieldworkers’ clinical skills, teamwork and communication in order to achieve VSPD’s organisational vision and goals. The volunteer will also support the CBR team to sustainably increase the reach of its services, including through partnerships with Government and non-Government organisations and other service providers.

This assignment will build understanding amongst people with disabilities, parents, carers and other community members of the capabilities and potential of people with a disability and contribute to broad advocacy for their greater inclusion in family and community life.
