Ever pictured working amongst the picturesque rice terraces of the northern Philippines? We’re seeking an Occupational therapist with a passion for special education to work with the communities of Kiangan, Ifugao.
The Kiangan Center began operations in 2012 as an initiative of the Local Government Unit of Kiangan (LGU). The Center provides services and education to students with disabilities living in Kiangan with a morning program for students aged 5-14 and an afternoon program for students aged 15 and above. Currently the Center caters for 16 students ranging in age from 5-57 with a range of disabilities including Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and Down Syndrome.
As Occupational Therapy Trainer, you will work with staff to improve practices in assessing students with special needs and improve staff skills in developing tailored therapy programs. Teacher-parent consultations and the improvement of knowledge transfer practices between teachers, parents and students will also be a focus as well as increasing knowledge of staff and stakeholders in Occupational Therapy in general.
Your time as Occupational Therapist at the Special Education Center of Kiangan will support the LGU Kiangan to provide education services that enable children with disabilities to have access to a better quality of education that caters to their needs and enable teachers to be better equipped to teach children with special needs.
