Assignment Summary
Looking for a Communication role with a difference? Join the Tonga Meteorological Services (TMS) as a Communications Advisor.

TMS is a division of Tonga’s Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate change and Communications. It seeks to provide meteorological and maritime radio services in support of economic development, safety and security, and the general wellbeing of citizens of, and visitors, to the Kingdom of Tonga.

In this role you will assist staff in designing, producing, maintaining and delivering a variety of awareness products to stakeholders and the community, as well as maintaining and managing information systems and communication tools. You will work with TMS to conduct client surveys and build or modify products around outcomes of the survey, and provide training on various online communication methods such as websites, an early warning e-newsletter and/or blog, Facebook and Twitter. You will work in collaboration with officers from TMS, Disaster Cluster groups and other bodies in preparing disaster impact and sectoral messages for approval by the National Emergency Management Committee.

Your contribution to strengthening TMS’s capacity to plan, develop and disseminate early warning and impact messages through various media will lead to early disaster preparedness and the appropriate response behaviours of stakeholders and communities.
